The Carpenters Union has a labor dispute with The Paras Construction Companies over their failure to provide the carpentry-craft negotiated area standard wages and benefits to all carpenter craft workers on all of their projects. Our dispute is not a Union/non-Union issue. The refusal or failure of companies like The Paras Construction Companies to meet area standards adversely affects the entire construction industry, and the community at large. Substandard wages and benefits exert downward pressure on area standards. They deter and discourage well-qualified and productive workers from entering into or remaining in the construction industry. We believe the community often ends up paying the health care tab for some non-area standard contractors' employees and their families, as well as encountering other social ills directly related to substandard wages. The long-term result is an overall decline in construction workers' skill levels resulting in a reduction in the quality of the project.

We also believe that those owners, developers, and others who continue to use and/or allow The Paras Construction Companies to be used on projects, despite knowing about their past and current practices, aid and abet the deterioration described above.

As long as The Paras Construction Companies continue to pay substandard wages to any of their carpenter-craft workers we will exercise our legal rights to conduct a full-scale public awareness campaign wherever we may lawfully do so, including any projects where The Paras Construction Companies are employed. This may include the display of large banners, distribution of handbills, and lawful demonstrations at jobsites or related businesses.

It is our hope that the information provided will help you select the most qualified and responsible contractor for your projects. We are providing this information to you in nine parts. We do not supply Paras's complete history, just the most relevant facts they would prefer to hide as you consider their bid. The following sections document a few examples of many involving those who have been impacted by The Paras Construction Companies.
